About A182 FSS316 Stainless Steel Piston Valve
A182 FSS316 Stainless Steel Piston Valve
Full port forged steel isolation valves with a maximum operating pressure of 1973 psig/136 Barg and a maximum operating temperature of 800oF/427oC. The burnished piston and metal reinforced graphite rings provide leak-proof shut off and allow Piston Valves to be operated at higher temperatures, while also extending operating life.
Piston Valves are available in Socket Weld, BSPT, and NPT end connections. Flanged ends can be supplied upon request. Piston Valves are ideal for saturated and superheated steam, and hot water applications.
Piston Valves Feature :
- Leak-proof isolation

Versatile End ConnectionsChoose from flanged, screwed, or socket weld connections to suit your piping configuration. These options provide flexibility for installation in various setups, adapting easily to both new and existing systems. The durable forged stainless steel 316 body offers superior corrosion resistance in challenging environments.
Precision and ReliabilityExperience linear flow characteristics and consistent operation even under fluctuating pressure or temperature. The valve's Class VI bubble-tight sealing-ensured by PTFE, graphite, or metal seats-provides absolute shutoff and minimizes leakage risk, making it ideal for critical processes.
Wide Application RangeDesigned for use with steam, air, water, and oil, this piston valve is suitable for industrial, chemical, and steam line installations. Its manual operation with either wheel or lever handles allows precise regulation of flow for both on/off and throttling needs. The shot blasted or polished finish offers both aesthetics and enhanced durability.
FAQ's of A182 FSS316 Stainless Steel Piston Valve:
Q: How does the A182 FSS316 piston valve ensure leak-proof operation?
A: This valve conforms to Class VI leakage standards, delivering bubble-tight sealing with seat/seal material options such as PTFE, graphite, or metal. Its bolted bonnet construction and robust forged stainless steel body further contribute to maintaining secure, leak-free performance under demanding conditions.
Q: What are the available end connection types for this piston valve?
A: The valve can be supplied with flanged, screwed, or socket weld end connections, allowing for easy integration into diverse piping systems and accommodating different installation requirements and preferences.
Q: When should I choose PTFE, graphite, or metal for the seat/seal material?
A: PTFE is best for chemical resistance and low friction; graphite is ideal for high-temperature environments; metal seats are suited for severe or abrasive service. Selection depends on the media, process demands, and operating conditions of your specific application.
Q: Where is this valve typically used?
A: It is widely installed in industrial setups, chemical processing units, steam lines, and facilities handling steam, air, water, or oil. Its robust construction and corrosion resistance make it suitable for harsh or corrosive environments.
Q: What is the process for valve testing and quality assurance?
A: Each valve is hydraulically and pneumatically tested to API 598 standards prior to shipment, ensuring leak-proof performance and reliability in service. This rigorous testing validates pressure containment and operational efficacy.
Q: How does manual operation benefit flow control?
A: Manual operation, via wheel or lever handles, enables precise adjustment for both on/off and throttling functions. This direct control is particularly advantageous in processes where fine regulation is required without automated actuation.
Q: What sizes and pressure ranges are available for this piston valve?
A: The valve can be specified in port sizes from 15mm to 50mm and is designed to handle pressures in the PN16 to PN40 range. This flexibility permits use in both moderate and high-pressure systems.
